TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
"Here’s how you do it..."
My philosophy of teaching can be narrowed down into a simple goal: play to the best parts of your personality. All students must walk down the road of forming good posture and technical ability— yes the rudiments! I always ask students, “Is it comfortable, in tune, and as beautiful as you can make it.” Music tells a story, and so I look for dialogue with students on what they feel and see when they perform a musical passage. With more advanced students, we work toward to addressing music theory and form to help determine more fundamental reasons when interpreting the emphasis points of a passage of music.
